The real Cozumel,
without the crowds

After reading the many positive reviews, we decided to book a private Jeep excursion with Visit Cozumel during our cruise stop instead of choosing one of the much more expensive excursions offered by the cruise line. It turned out to be a decision we did not regret for a single moment. From the beginning, Mario and Gilberto were extremely responsive. During the booking process, they provided clear information and quickly answered all my questions. Before the excursion, we received detailed meeting instructions and contact information, which gave us a lot of confidence that everything was well organized. On the day of the excursion, our guide Ricky was waiting for us, and we immediately felt comfortable with him. Because we wanted to visit Mayan ruins, taste local food and drinks, and explore the island, Ricky created an itinerary that perfectly matched our interests. He took us to the San Gervasio Mayan ruins, stopped for chocolate and tequila tastings, and brought us to a small local restaurant where we enjoyed some of the best nachos and tacos we have ever tasted. Along the way, we also stopped at several beautiful places by the roadside to take photos and enjoy the amazing views. We especially appreciated Ricky’s transparency about the admission fees we would have to pay at the different stops. There were no surprises, and we always knew exactly what to expect. Ricky was friendly, flexible, knowledgeable, and made sure that we returned to the cruise ship comfortably and on time. We were very happy with our private Jeep excursion and would definitely recommend Visit Cozumel and Ricky to anyone looking for a personal and enjoyable way to discover the island. This tour was fantastic! We had a comfy, cool van just for our group of 8, with native Cozumel residents Chuy at the wheel and Angie as our guide. Arrangements were easy online; we were provided with a list of typical destinations selected by visitors. Angie met us right off the pier and helped us to design our own route/stops/experience to fit perfectly with the ship schedule. We learned so much about “real” Cozumel history, culture, and lifestyle today! Lunch on the back side of the island was fresh and delicious and the views just breathtaking. Visit Cozumel is a small family-owned local company that truly earns your business. They made us feel like we were spending the day with lovely sweet friends who are passionate and proud of their island.

Our excursion with this company was absolutely amazing!! It was super easy to book and they remained in contact with us up until the day of the excursion, so we would know what to expect. Our family of 12 fit very comfortably in our van with A/C. Our guide knew what we would like to do, even when we didn’t quite know what we wanted to do. Lol Ozzy and Chewy were absolutely amazing and took great care of us the entire time. Also, they were very knowledgeable about everything. I definitely would recommend booking this excursion and avoid cruise lines over priced excursions, then you get a little bit of everything.

We had an excellent time on our private jeep excursion. Our driver was able to suggest and bring us to some great places as well as tell us a lot about local life on the island. We loved not having to wait for large group of people to finish each stop. We were able to move on as soon as we were finished so therefore able to do and see so much more. Highly recommend this company!!

Angelo and Chewy were super accommodating and knowledgeable. We had a group of 12, mostly seniors, and they helped navigate our group to accessible spots for pictures and a great lunch on the beach. Highly recommend for those that want a tailored experience. Would definitely do again!!

Aldair was our guide and Jesus (Chewie) our driver. They gave clear directions for pick up and the minivan was perfect with cool bottled water whenever we wanted it. They talked us through the ticket process at the Mayan ruins and prepared us for the upsell. Then we went for the honey and cocoa experience which was great fun (and delicious). Due to inclement weather we didn’t stop on the wild east coast of the island but our guides kept us entertained with lots of interesting information about the island throughout the trip. I’d thoroughly recommend them.

Enrique was a phenomenal tour guide. We opted to cruise the island and learn some of the history and geography of the area. Enrique, being from Cozumel, was a wealth of knowledge and made the trip a lot of fun. We stopped at Tierra Maya to learn and experience local honey, chocolate, salsa, and of course tequila. Tierra Maya is a newer tour excursion, but they are locally owned and operated which made it enjoyable to visit. Enrique was extremely flexible, stopping for some lunch off the southern coast when we asked and had great recommendations. I definitely want to return to Cozumel and stay for an extended stay. Such a laid back, relaxing vibe. And people like Enrique make it worth returning to. 10/10 would recommend this tour to others.

We chose this tour because it provided a truly customizable tour of Cozumel. There were two of us with our driver, Diago. When I booked the trip I wrote some of the areas that I was interested in seeing. It was obvious that Diego read my comments before we even met. When we started the tour we discussed my ideas and he gave us a few of his recommendations and we ended up with a truly customized tour based on our interests which were seeing the east side of Cozumel, visiting Punta Sur and eating local cuisine. Diego is very knowledgeable about the area and had a lot of fun stories to share with us. On our drive to the east side of the island unbeknownst to Diego they were running a tsunami drill and the road was temporarily closed. Diego was quick to come up with an alternative idea to do a chocolate tour to fill some the time until the road reopened. We stopped and had the world’s greatest mojito. We were having such a wonderful day that we extended our tour by 1 hour and stopped for dinner at one of the local restaurants for an amazing dinner. If you’re looking for a truly customized tour I highly recommend the private Jeep Tour and choose Diego if you have a chance to pick your driver.

Enrique is simply the best! You will not find someone more passionate and knowledgeable about his island home. Gustavo at the San Gervasio park was also fantastic! His knowledge of the Mayan history of the ruins was so fascinating to hear. Gabby at Tierra Maya was so sweet and a great presenter talking about the Mayan chocolate making process and the honey that come from the stingless Melipona bees. Our pit stop at Palm Beach resort was a cherry on top. The service there was top notch!! I highly recommend getting away from the cruise ship excursions and seeing Cozumel from a different view.

Great way to cost the island. Our guide Ricky was very knowledgeable and took us to a great Mayan experience as well as remote area of the island. Finally we had a great Mexican lunch based on his recommendation. Thank you to Ricky and Jesus for a great day.

Ozzy and Chewy was awesome! They provided us with a safe authentic experience. They showed us beautiful places and provided many options. They took us to a place that allowed us to make our own candle, chocolate, salsa, and tortilla. 10 out of 10 stars!!!!
